2 die of malaria in Etawah
ETAWAH: Two children died of malaria and 70 others have been taken ill with its symptoms in three villages of Etawah district. B P Singh from Lahariyapur village and Shilpi of Maigupur village — both aged 15 years — have succumbed to the disease since Sunday night,said district Chief Medical Officer Yogesh Kumar Gupta. As many as 70 others,including minors,have taken ill in Lahariyapur,Kathmau and Maigupur villages in the Bharthana block. Forty blood samples have been sent for testing,said Gupta. Teams of doctors have also been rushed to these villages. District Magistrate G S Priyadarshni,who toured the affected villages,directed officials to launch a sanitation drive and advised people to drink boiled water.

5 quizzed for travelling on Nepalese passports
LUCKNOW: Five Bangladeshi nationals,who had boarded a flight from Lucknow for Saudi Arabia on Nepalese passports two days ago,were deported back here on Monday. The Lucknow’s Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) came to know about the five from the Oman Air authorities soon after they landed at the Amausi airport. K N Pandey,Deputy SP of the Local Intelligence Unit,said the men,identified as Mohammad Hasan,Kamal Mian,Surush,Muktad and Sohit,had flown to Saudi Arabia via Muscat from Lucknow on August 21. The Deputy SP said the men had confessed that they were Bangladeshis and had obtained Nepalese passports in order to seek jobs in Saudi Arabia. They were being questioned to find out how they got Nepalese passports.

6-yr-old dies after falling into drain
Lucknow: A six-year-old boy died after he allegedly fell into a drain overflowing because of rains in Aliganj area,police said here on Monday. The boy,Mohd Kaif,accidentally slipped into the drain Sunday evening while he was playing in front of his house in Banarasi tola locality,they said. Kaif,who had got stuck inside the drain,was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
