Sultanpur murder: Govt staff threaten strike over clean chit to BSP legislator
Faizabad: The government employees on Friday threatened to lock down offices if the authorities did not arrest BSP MLA Chandrabhadra Singh Sonu who was given a clean chit by police in connection with the murder of revenue official Ram Kumar Yadav.
The employees,under the banner of the Subordinate Government Staff Association,said they would resort to an indefinite strike and lock down all government offices if the MLA was not arrested.
In a statement,the association demanded compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the bereaved family and a CBI probe into the murder. The Revenue staff here is already on a 3-day strike,which started yesterday,to protest the clean chit given to the MLA.
I-T raids on Subharti Group colleges and hospitals
Lucknow: The Meerut unit of the Income Tax (IT) Department on Friday conducted search operations simultaneously on 16 premises of medical and engineering colleges and hospitals run by Meerut-based Subharti Group in Meerut,Mathura,Ghaziabad and Delhi. The I-T operation was going on when the last reports came in. A senior I-T official who is supervising the operations told The Indian Express that the Subharti group owned by Dr Atul runs medical,dental and engineering colleges at Meerut and Ghaziabad and is associated with those based in Delhi and Mathura. The group also owns nursing homes including the leading Lokpriya Hospital at Meerut,he said. The official said details of bank transactions,valuables in bank lockers and the property have been found so far.
