Hosts up outclassed Rajasthan 21-11 in a pool D match to maintain their winning streak in the 27th Sub-Junior Boys’ Handball Championships being held at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium,Lucknow. This was third consecutive victory for the UP boys. On behalf of the victors,Hari Om (10 goals),Amarjeet (5 goals) and Himanshu (4 goals) showed aggression in their game. From Rajasthan Vivek (3 goals),Tushar (3 goals) and Vinod Kumar (2 goals) played well. In a thrilling pool D match,Punjab beat Assam 18-17.

In the 12th Mini Girls Handball Nationals being held at the same venue,UP girls crushed Karnataka 21-1 in a one-sided battle. Manju Mishra (7 goals),Jhanvi (4 goals) and Mamta Singh (4 goals) were the main goal-getters.

Pool A: Orissa beat Maharashtra 20-10,Andhra Pradesh beat Himachal Pradesh 30-19;

Pool B: Delhi beat Uttarakhand 12-1,West Bengal beat Mumbai Handball Academy 15-7; Madhya Pradesh beat Uttarakhand 9-8,West Bengal beat Chandigarh 18-14;

Pool C: Kerala beat Bihar 20-17,Jammu & Kashmir beat Tamil Nadu 21-11,Haryana beat Kerala 16-4; Pool D: Uttar Pradesh beat Rajasthan 21-11,Jharkhand beat Assam 20-15,Punjab beat Assam 18-17;

Mini Girls: Tamil Nadu beat Delhi 12-6,Orissa beat Mumbai Handball Academy 9-3,Kerala beat Haryana 9-4,UP beat Karnataka 21-1,West Bengal beat Mumbai Handball Academy 5-2,Tamil Nadu beat Maharashtra 12-2,Karnataka beat Andhra Pradesh 7-5,Delhi beat Maharashtra 8-3,Orissa beat Himachal Pradesh 10-7.

Shalu fashions Allahabad victory

An all-important goal by Shalu in the 5th minute of the play went a long way as Allahabad defeated KD Singh ‘Babu’ Society team by 1-0 in their day’s match of the Syed M Husain Memorial Women’s State Hockey Tournament being held at Karamat College grounds,Lucknow.

In another match of the same tourney,aided by a goal each by Vimla (53rd minute) and Jyoti (57th minute),Pilibhit beat Karamat College,Lucknow by 2-0. With this win Pilibhit has entered the semi-finals.
