In view of the circumstances in which he died and the series of incidents,we decided to consider the death of Dr Sachan a murder,and not suicide. While we are yet to decide the future course of action about protest,it was unanimously decided to demand a CBI probe into all three murders – those of Dr Arya,Dr Singh and now Dr Sachan, said D R Singh,president of the state Provincial Medical and Health Services association.

While Singh did not explain why they regarded Dr Sachans death as murder,other doctors gave four reasons.

Why it cant be suicide:

* Sachan as a doctor need not have made so many cuts to commit suicide.

* Considering the blood loss he suffered,Dr Sachan must have slit his artery. Those who went inside noticed a large quantity of blood around the body. After cutting the artery,a person dies within half an hour to a maximum of one hour. It does not leave enough time and strength to a person to hang himself.

* If artery is not cut deep enough,then the chances of bleeding to death are low as it usually results in clotting,preventing further loss of blood. Besides,after making first such cut,which is very painful,the victim needs exceptional strength to make more cuts.

* No medico-legal expert would accept the possibility of a person hanging himself with a leather belt. The belts width,its strength and its inability to tie a proper knot would not just let it happen. Either the knot would open or the belt would break under the weight of the person.
