Constable shot at during kidnapping case probe

Pilibhit Circle Officer (City) Anshu Jain said, “A case was registered on December 7 at the Kotwali police station for kidnapping of a woman. The complaint was filed by the woman’s husband, who accused one Abhishek Saxena of kidnapping his wife. A probe in the case was launched and it was found that the woman was seen in Pooranpur area. On getting the information, Shahrukh Khan, the investigating officer, went to Saxena’s residence in a bid to trace the woman. He also informed the Pooranpur police station and was accompanied by other police personnel. When they reached the house and knocked, Saxena saw the Khan and fired at him. He was shot in the stomach. Saxena fled the spot and a search is on for him.”

Soon after the incident, senior police officers, including Pilibhit Superintendent of Police Atul Sharma, reached the village. Heavy police force has been deployed there to maintain the law and order situation, officers said.
