Cong not in a mood to lose steam in CMO murder protest

State Congress has decided to take out another procession on Wednesday pressing its demand for CBI enquiry into the murder of Dr B P Singh

State Congress has decided to take out another procession on Wednesday pressing its demand for CBI enquiry into the murder of Dr B P Singh,CMO in Family Welfare department, and protesting against the high-handedness of police which mercilessly beat up party men on Monday.

Congress workers including women workers were caned by police on Monday, while they were trying to take out “Nyaya March” from Shaheed Smarak to CMO office. Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi announced on Tuesday that party would now take out “Ninda March” on April 13 across the state.

Joshi further said that apart from filing a PIL in the court demanding CBI probe in the murders of two CMOs,the Congress would also approach the National Human Rights Commission as well as National Women Commission against the ill-treatment of party workers by UP Police.

“There were no women policemen during the protest and police manhandled women party workers very brutally,” said Joshi. She further said the party would keep on demanding CBI probe in the two incidents as BSP leaders’ involvement has become clearer.

State Congress chief also alleged the state government had threatened PMHS association of doctors to take back their work boycott, which was announced to demand CBI probe. “Moreover,we came to know that a day before his murder,B P Singh had a heated discussion with senior government officials during a meeting. All this needs to be probed,” said Joshi.

Joshi also demanded judicial probe in the alleged murder of Police Inspector Radhey Shyam Gupta, who was suspended during investigation in Banda rape case. She said Gupta was recently reinstated in Hamirpur district but was killed under mysterious circumstances on Sunday night. “The postmortem report shows fracture in Gupta’s bones and other injuries as well and so we are demanding a probe by a sitting judge of the High court,” she said.

Commenting on Anna Hazare’s movement,Joshi said UP would be the ideal place for the social activist to start a movement against corruption as the state has the most corrupt system.
