No sign of let-up in heat wave

Lucknow: Most parts of the state reeled under hot spell with Etawah recording the highest at 46.7 degree Celsius. Weather remained mainly dry in the state and temperature in Agra and Meerut divisions was appreciably above normal. In Moradabad and Jhansi divisions,the temperature was above normal while it was below normal in Gorakhpur division,meteorological department said. Meanwhile,day temperatures fell in Allahabad,Lucknow,Bareilly and Meerut divisions. According to the MET department,weather would be mainly dry over the state and dust storm would occur at one or two places over west UP.

Woman,paramour held for murder

Rampur: A woman was arrested along with her paramour and four others for allegedly killing her mother-in-law. The deceased,Manju Sharma,an employee of custom department who was posted in Meerut,was murdered on May 9 by four goons,allegedly hired by her daughter-in-law Neelam,Police said the reason behind the murder is Neelams love affair with one Jagat Pal Singh.

SIM card racket busted in Kanpur

Kanpur: Police claimed to have busted a bogus SIM card racket of selling pre-activated SIM cards issued on fake identity proofs with the arrest of two persons. Police raided Chamanganj of Sisamou area and arrested two accused for gathering SIM cards on fake identity cards.
