BJP asks Guv to declare state drought-hit

Several workers and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party marched from the party’s state office to Raj Bhavan on Tuesday,requesting Governor T V Rajeswar to declare the state as drought-hit and also put a check on the blatant misuse of the SC/ST Act in the state.

A delegation of the party leaders submitted a memorandum to the Governor ,highlighting the three-point demand of the party. The demand focuses on declaring the state as drought-hit,check on the misuse of the SC/ST Act and the reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel in the state.

According to the party president Ramapati Ram Tripathi,the government should announce its plan of action to deal with the drought.

The state government should also spend money from the emergency fund and take measures for supporting the farmers.

The party has also stated that the BSP is blatantly misusing the SC/ST Act after its defeat in the recent general elections. It has also demanded that the cases should be registered under this Act only after a proper probe is conducted.

The leaders who participated in the march,included national president of the Kisan Morcha Vinod Pandey,Sheema Rizvi,Hero Bajpai,state additional media in-charge Dilip Srivastava,Dinesh Dubey,Mayor of Varanasi Kaushalendra Singh,Kanpur Mayor Ravindra Patni and others.
