9-year-old killed by speeding car during skating practice in Lucknow

A nine-year-old boy died after he was hit by a speeding car while practising skating outside the Janeshwar Mishra Park at Gomtinagar Vistar in Lucknow on Tuesday morning. Naimish suffered grievous injuries that led to his death, police said.

His mother Shweta Srivastava is an additional superintendent of police with the special investigation team of the Uttar Pradesh police.

“Naimish was the only son of Shweta and her husband,” a police officer said.

Locals present at the accident spot rushed Naimish to a hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

The police initiated a search to catch the car’s driver, who fled the scene after the accident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashish Srivastava said the police got information around 5.30 am that an unknown vehicle had hit from behind ASP Shweta Srivastava’s son while he was practising skating.

An FIR has been registered against an unknown vehicle under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police have formed five teams to investigate the matter and are collecting CCTV footage from the accident spot.
