A child, declared dead by docs in Ambedkar Nagar district hospital, was found to be alive when re-examined on the insistence of a journalist.
Six-year-old Dilawar, son of Vishram Das,was brought from Sihmai Karirat village of Akbarpur tehsil on Saturday night to be treated for food poisoning. At the time, the boy was unconscious.
After examining him,the doctor on emergency duty declared him dead and asked them to take away the body, said Das.
But feeling that the child was alive, they requested the doctor many times to examine him again, but the doctor refused and insisted that the child was dead, said Das.
In a short while,a local journalist,Ashwini Kumar, who had arrived to collect information about the victims of a road accident, saw the family crying. Taking a close look at the body,he found that the boy was breathing, albeit very faintly.
I took the boy to the doctors and asked them to re-examine him. When I told them that I was a journalist, they finally agreed and found that he was alive. Immediately, they started treatment and within half-an-hour,the child became conscious, said Ashwini Kumar.
The Chief Medical Superintendent,Dr B K Lal,said he was aware of the incident. He said he will investigate the matter and the irresponsible person will not be spared.
