For now,Cong gets two ministers
After much speculation, only two Congress MLAs state Congress president Manas Ranjan Bhuniya and CLP leader Abu Hena took the oath as Mamata Banerjees Cabinet ministers on Friday.
The other five, sources said, will have to wait for another week before they are sworn-in.
We gave only two names to Mamata Banerjee. On Thursday night when I and A K Antony met her,we handed her with an envelope with the name of Manas Bhuniya and Abu Hena whom they we to be inducted into her Cabinet, said Congress general secretary Shakeel Ahmed who is also in-charge of West Bengal.
In the letter Ahmed told the Trinamool Congress chief that the other names would be submitted to her shortly.
We will shortly decide on the names of the other Congress leaders and then depending on her ( Mamata) convinience and the Governors convinience they can take oath in Raj Bhavan, said Ahmed. He said that the Congreess could land about five to six more ministerial.
But Congress insiders said that lack of consensus among the partymembers led the leadership to submit only two names to Trinamool.
The Congress party is also insisting on getting more ministerial births. While the Congress wants six more ministerial births, the Trinamool is insisting on five. But the Congress knows that it couldnt push the envelope far. The relationship between the two parties is very cordial and since he has absolute majority, the Congress party cannot bargain, said Congress spokesperson Om Prakash Mishra.
In next one week the party is going to decide on the name of remaining Congress candidates who could likely join the council of ministers. The list may include Deboprasad Roy from Alipurduar,Ajoy De from Shantipur in Nadia,Asit Mal from Hasan in Birbhum,Abu Naser Khan Chowdhury from Sujapur in Malda,Sabina Yeasmin from Mothabari in Malda and Rabindranath Chattopadhyay from Katwa in Burdwan. However, party leaders say that the final decision
on the list will be taken by Pranab Mukherjee and Shakeel Ahmed.
