Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee without referring specifically to the incident in which a Jadavpur University lecturer was arrested for allegedly spreading derogatory cartoon figuring her, defended the police action saying those who will commit offence would be arrested. The chief minister said “some quarters” were out to spread “false and fabricated” propaganda against her government and said such “an attempt would not yield any success” as the people of the state has blocked all ways of their CPM’s return”. “Don’t hatch conspiracy as people do not forgive those who indulge in it.” In obvious reference to Jadavpur University ‘s lecturer’s arrest, she said in Bengal ,there is no place of those who make comment which is bad in test. “Spreading false propaganda is not good. Some people are doing this out of jealousy which has no treatment. Those who have ruled 34 years are saying whatever they like. This would not be tolerated. False campaign would not be able to stop me.”…They commit crimes and once people are arrested they run it on their channels for the whole day,” she said at a public event.
