Taking some time off from his busy schedule,Reshammiya invites us over to his swanky Lokhandwala pad. Dressed in three-quarters,a tee and his signature cap,he plays the theatrical promos and songs of Radio on his LCD screen while narrating the plot of the film. “I play Vivaan Shah,an RJ in the film. It is a modern-day love story in which technology and social networking sites play a major role,” he says. He confesses that he is not much into computers. It is his 10-year-old son Swayam who often teaches him a thing or two. “I showed Radio to my son’s friends and they loved it. I can guarantee that it’s going to be a sure-fire hit.”

With as many as four films up for release,the flashbulbs will be trained on Reshammiya,the actor. “Radio is my first release followed by Pooja Bhatt’s Kajraare where I am looking my best,John Matthew Mathan’s A New Love Ishtory where I play a tapori and Studio 18’s Ishk Unplugged. If I weren’t promising enough,I wouldn’t be cast by top-notch directors,” he says with naïve arrogance. “Next up,I would love to work with Aditya Chopra,Karan Johar and Vishal Bharadwaj.”

Although the 36-year-old has been accepted as a competent entertainer,he is yet to set the big screen ablaze with his histrionics. “The debacle of Karzzz had many of my friends and colleagues asking me to quit acting and concentrate on music. But with Radio I am going to prove them wrong. This is my attempt to silence my critics,” he resolves.

Reshammiya knows that he is not the archetypal Hindi film hero,nor can he ever be. “Hence I have decided to concentrate on movies that are logical and accept roles that suit me. Karzzz was larger than life and I tried too hard to be Monty. Now,I want to play believable characters,” he accepts.

There have been composers-turned-actors in the past. But Reshammiya,who got his biggest break as composer with Satish Kaushik’s Tere Naam,has decided not to compose for films which he is not a part of. “I will not compose even for the biggest banner in Bollywood. That goes against my business strategy. I want to be known as a package deal,where I am acting,singing and composing.”
