Jhargram rape: Cong team meets SP

A delegation of Congress leaders submitted a deputation to SP (Jhargram) on Friday following their visit to Sonamukhi village where six women were allegedly raped by security forces on June 30. We met the women and found that they were tortured. We requested the SP to take action. We will stage a demonstration in front of SDO office on July 13, said Nirmal Ghosh,district Congress chief.

Three hacked to death in Birbhum

Three members of a family a women,her son and daughter were killed in their house at Bhusna village in Birbhum district on early Saturday morning. SP (Birbhum) Humaun Kabir said Nasima Bibi(38),Najia Khatun(18) and Hasib Sekh (10) were sleeping in the verandah of their house when they were killed by unidentified assailants. The bodies have been taken to hospital for postmortem.

Kulti plant to annually dole out 1,000 wagons

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said the proposed wagon manufacturing factory at Kulti in Burnpur will have a capacity of 1,000 units per year. This will be the third wagon manufacturing plant in Bengal after Braithwate and Burn Standard, Banerjee said here. The tentative name of the proposed wagon manufacturing plant at Kulti would be Bengal Wagon Industry.
