Canning: A day after the Lalgarh massacre,Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee strongly disapproved of the incident,saying it should not have happened and asked all political parties to exercise restraint. What happened in West Midnapore yesterday was not good. It should not have happened. Killings and bloodshed must stop otherwise all development work will come to a halt. All political parties should observe restraint, the CM said. Bhattacharjee said the state government wanted peace and jobs for the poor. We want to development work for those still living in darkness and in tears. Violence will destroy everything, he added.
Its beyond talks,time to act: Governor
Kolkata: West Bengal Goveror M K Narayanan today once again slammed the massacre of eight villagers at Lalgarh by armed CPM cadres. Asked whether he would send any report to the Centre,the Governor said: The situation has gone beyond talks and sending reports. It is time to act and I have urged the state chief minister to discuss the situation immediately.
