In South Bengal, including districts such as Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, Purba and Paschim Medinipur, Bankura, Purulia, Bardhaman, Birbhum, Nadia, and Murshidabad, dry weather is most likely to prevail throughout the day.
There are also no significant weather alerts in place for the state over the next few days as of yet. The coastal areas of West Bengal are not under any fisherman or swell surge alerts, indicating calm sea conditions and safe weather for marine activities.
In North Bengal, the overall weather pattern will also remain mostly dry on Friday.
However, light rain or thunderstorms may occur at one or two places, particularly around Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, and Alipurduar. The rest of the districts including Coochbehar and Uttar and Dakshin Dinajpur, will likely experience fair weather conditions. Temperatures in this region are expected to show little variation in the coming days.
“A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal on October 24, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Kolkata. The system is developing under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation lying over the southeast Bay of Bengal adjoining the South Andaman Sea, extending up to about 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is expected to move west-northwestwards and may become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours,” said the RMC on Thursday.
For Kolkata, the local forecast for Friday indicates a clear sky, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely around 34 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. Relative humidity will range between 51 per cent and 92 per cent, and no rainfall has been recorded in the last day, starting Wednesday.
