Minister warns institutions against flouting OBC norms

Kolkata: Backward Classes Welfare Minister Upen Biswas on Thursday warned educational institutions who have not yet implemented the reservations for the Backward Classes as per the Central government norms. “Any institution whether government-aided or private should be sure that they would be signing the death warrant if they fail to provide adequate measures to representatives of the Backward Classes,” said Biswas.

Trinamool unhappy with ministers lining up for Baba Ramdev

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress on Thursday took a dig at four senior ministers rushing to the airport to meet Baba Ramdev,who has threatened to go on a fast against corruption. “Here is a person who comes in his jet plane,lands at Delhi airport and almost the entire Cabinet goes. Why do they go?” said Minister of State for Health Dinesh Trivedi. “We are not bothered about hungry people,but we are concerned about somebody who is going to go hungry for three days,” he said.

‘CPM cadres flocking to join BJP’

KOLKATA: Chief of BJP’s state unit,Rahul Sinha,on Thursday said that a lot of disgruntled CPM cadres are flocking to BJP after the Left Front’s ouster. “We are going to judiciously use the space of the opposition party,” said Sinha before leaving for Lucknow to attend the BJP’s national executive meet where party’s debacle will be on agenda.
