The business leaders in Bengal are satisfied at the decision of the government to stay away from land acquisition.
State Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta had announced in the Assembly on Thursday that the government would not acquire land for industrial projects and the industries were required to purchase land directly. The government has dealt with the circumstances wisely. It is important that the land owners and industry have a direct dealing to avoid a political fiasco, said Sanjay Budhia,president,Indian Chamber of Commerce.
KK Nevada,president of Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry,said: Fiasco in Nandigram and Singur has shown that land for industry should be acquired by the private parties and the state should not interfere.
