An international airport has been proposed in Jewar in Gautam Buddh Nagar for which around 5,000 hectare of land is to be acquired. The reported cost of the airport, scheduled to begin operations by 2022-23, would be Rs 15,000-20,000 crore.
According to a recent report, the state requires 8,636 hectares, including 7,290 hectares of private land for the mega expressway project which has run into a controversy due to protests against land acquisitions by various partners, including the Shiv Sena, an ally in his government.
“When land acquisition is done, rehabilitation and resettlement plays a critical role. It requires people to be very empathetic and understanding, which in our states is a big challenge,” said Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha
