Lakhs brave rain to hear her speak
Incessant rains failed to dampen the spirit of thousands who marched towards Brigade Ground to catch the glimpse of their Didi. After all todays Martyrs Day rally was also the celebration of the emphatic win of Trinamool Congress in the Assembly elections.
Waving thousands of tri-colour flags,Trinamool supporters and workers waited impatiently to hear Mamata Banerjee speak. The centre-stage was packed to capacity with some of the most prominent Bengali cultural luminaries being present there.
Around 12.30,amid deafening cheers from the crowd,Trinamool MLA and famed actress Debashree Roy performed with her dance troupe. It was followed by performances by MP Shatabdi Ray,singers Nachiketa and others. Cultural extravaganza has long been a hallmark of Mamatas rallies and events.
All hell broke loose with Mamatas arrival and the crowd turned hysteric. Police remained helpless and even Mamatas appeals could not discipline the crowd.

Lakhs roared as Mamata addressed them at 2.30 pm. She spoke at length,hardly taking any break and quoting Rabindranath,Nazrul and Vivekanand profusely.
I can tolerate everything except indiscipline. It has no place in my dictionary, Mamata was heard saying however,nobody in the rally and on the streets,today,felt bothered to follow her advice.
