43 PTTIs to be set up with NCTE recognition

Ashok Rudra,general secretary West Bengal Primary Teachers Training Institute,welcomed the government’s announcement. “The CM has kept her words. We hope that the institute will be set up soon,” Rudra said.

There are already 57 government PTTIs and with another 43,the total number of PTTIs will rise to 100.

Education Department officials said the NCTE has granted certain concessions to the PTTIs to enable them to be recognized. These institutions can also provide regular pre-service training.

The Centre had asked the state to revisit its recruitment process and ensure that persons possessing minimum qualification as prescribed by the NCTE are only recruited to avoid any future complication .
