Police on Wednesday said they have arrested two persons in connection with the brutal murder of a youth at Shibtala in Dhulagarh in Howrah.
Subho Dhaki, who had been organising protests in the area against gambling, was found dead with his throat slit and genitals severed on Tuesday a stone throwaway distance from his home.
We are looking into every possibility, including a possible love affair, said police.
The area remained gripped in fear with locals refusing to speak about the murder. None of Dhakis friends were willing to talk. Some of them said they knew of the gambling racket prevalent in the area but they never tried to protest against it.
Dhakis protest too, according to his cousin Prashanta, was not an organised one. He would get into a brawl with the gamblers on and off but never really put up an organised movement against the drinking and gambling spree here, he said.
