Ankit Love British citizen Ankit Love, whose name was earlier this month withdrawn from the ‘blacklist’ and granted emergency visa by the Indian government to enable him attend the cremation of his mother Jay Mala, spent Monday night in police custody for holding a demonstration outside the Udhampur police station before he was let off on Tuesday afternoon following orders from the local Tehsildar.
Ankit, who is the son of J&K National Panthers Party founder late Bhim Singh, was accompanying former minister Harshdev Singh and his wife who along with their supporters had held a dharna outside the police station against the alleged harassment of one of their workers.
However, while Harshdev and his wife were let off by the police Monday evening, Ankit remained in custody as he refused to sign a bond sought by the cops. On Tuesday, he was produced before the Tehsildar who ordered his release.
