Gurgaon police Tuesday arrested a Delhi-based YouTuber and his associate for rash driving after a purported video clip of them enacting a scene from the Shahid Kapoor starrer web series ‘Farzi’ went viral on social media. The duo was later released after they joined the investigation, said police.

Police said that in the purported clip, the YouTuber, identified as Joravar Singh Kalsi, and his friend Gurpeet Singh can be seen driving around on Golf Course Road and throwing currency notes from the boot of the car, as the duo mouth dialogues from the web series. Kalsi has more than 3 lakh followers on social media and 3.5 lakh subscribers on YouTube.

Vikas Kaushik, ACP DLF, said, “The matter was brought to our attention from social media. In the clip, two people are seen moving in a car on Golf Course Road and recreating a scene from a web show. It appears they did not have any permission and the act was done without any safety measures in place. It has been noticed of late that people have been recording such videos to gain popularity on social media and putting the safety of commuters at risk, which could result in fatal accidents. A case has been registered against the people in the video.”

In the police complaint lodged by a police officer, it was stated that the officer was on duty and came across a video clip on Instagram titled ‘Paise uda Feroz’ from the account of one Joravar Singh Kalsi.

“In the video, two men could be seen speeding and driving in a negligent way on Golf Course Road in a car. One person is behind the wheel while another could be seen opening the boot of the car and throwing currency notes on the road,” the FIR read.

Police said both Joravar and Gurpreet were arrested after they joined the investigation and later released. “The accused said they had recorded the video clip on March 2. Joravar was driving the car and Gurpreet was throwing the fake currency notes from the boot of the car similar to a scene from a web series. Two more associates had shot the video on a motorcycle which was following them. The currency notes of denomination Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 are fake. The notes read ‘Manoranjan Bank of India’,” said the police in a statement.

Police said they have appealed to people against indulging in such acts, especially on Golf Course Road, where high-speeding vehicles operate, adding that action shall be taken against offenders.
