Woman ‘beaten to death’ by husband

He was arrested from Bulandshahr by a police team and brought to Delhi. He was produced before a Delhi court which sent him to 14-day judicial custody.

According to the police, the incident came to light when Sharafat’s uncle, Sarfaraz, called up the police around 7.30 pm on Tuesday and allegedly reported that his nephew had come to the village after killing his wife.

“A police team was sent to Sharafat’s rented accommodation at Begumpur and his wife’s body was found inside a bed box, covered by several layers of clothes. The police also recovered a blood-stained frying pan from the house. A case of murder was registered at the Malviya Nagar police station and a team was sent to Bulandshahr,” the officer added.

During interrogation, Sharafat allegedly confessed to the crime and told the police that he killed his wife over
suspected extra-marital affairs.

“Yesterday, he had a heated argument with his wife and allegedly attacked her with the frying pan and she collapsed. Sharafat then shoved the body inside the bedbox and covered it with several layers of clothes. He then left the house with his three children —  daughters (aged 11 and 4 years) and a son (8) — and headed for their native village in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. When his relatives kept questioning him, he broke down,” the officer said.
