Two vehicle thieves arrested

Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two vehicles who,they say,have been involved in at least six cases of vehicle thefts.

Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two vehicles who,they say,have been involved in at least six cases of vehicle thefts. The two accused were arrested on Saturday from North-east Delhi after the police worked on a tip off. Raju,50,a resident of Bulandshahar in UP,and 32-year-old Ram Chander,a resident of Saharsa in Bihar were,according to the police,regular auto lifters. They had been trying to apprehend them for their involvement in a few cases in Delhi.

The auto-lifters were arrested from Dharampura area in Seelamur. “With their arrest,we have solved six cases of vehicle theft in Delhi and are also looking at whether they had any more accomplices,” said a senior police officer. Police also claimed to have recovered three vehicles,including two tempos.

Police said that the two confessed that they had stolen the tempos and the cars from Mansarovar Park,Nand Nagri and Harsh Vihar,Kirti Nagar and Krishna Nagar. “They used to steal tempos from Delhi use in UP to earn a livelihood,” the police officer said.
