Two Class XII students were arrested on Saturday for their alleged involvement in cases of snatching.

Two Class XII students were arrested on Saturday for their alleged involvement in cases of snatching.

The police said Dipankar Dass,21 and Kapil Chauhan,19,who are appearing for their Board examinations this year,took to snatching to fund their outings with their girlfriends.

Even as the exam fever intensified in the Capital,the duo allegedly committed four snatchings during the second fortnight of February,the police said.

The police said their victims include an MBBS student who lost her bag and mobile phone and a Spice Jet employee who was robbed of her laptop.

According to the police,these were the first crimes by the duo. In May and June last year,they targetted several women and allegedly snatched their cellphones,hand bags and gold chains in West Delhi’s Janakpuri and Hari Nagar,the police said.

On Saturday,when Dass and Chauhan went to PVR Priya complex in Vasant Vihar to dispose of a mobile phone and the laptop,they were arrested.

Chauhan is a student of a public school in Mahavir Enclave in Dwarka while Dass is appearing for the examinations as a private candidate.

“Dass purchased a Hero Honda Karizma bike last year and used it for snatching,” the police said.
