Photographers, get ready to celebrate as the first biennial Delhi Photo Festival 2011 gets underway in October. On display will be works from some of the best lensmen from India and the world, along with talks, seminars and gallery walks. Portfolio reviews by noted photographers, curators and gallerists, too, will be a part of the festival. Organised by Nazar Foundation which is run by photographers Dinesh Khanna and Prashant Panjiar, the festival will take place at the India Habitat Centre from October 15 to October 28.

“ The theme of the exhibition is affinity. It is a theme that has a very wide interpretation and a lot of work can be done around it,” says Panjiar,54,who is busy going through photo submissions for the festival. Submissions are on till July 15.

Surprisingly,in a country that is among the most photographed in the world for its picturesque landscape, colourful rituals and gritty poverty, this is the first photo festival of such a large scale. “There was a vacuum of sorts as far as photography was concerned, and this is the reason we decided to introduce this festival. It won’t just be an exhibition,it will also be about learning, sharing and building a community,” adds Panjiar.
