Three men held for killing eunuchs to grab property

The Delhi Police arrested three men allegedly involved in the murder of two eunuchs in Munirka on Sunday.

The Delhi Police arrested three men allegedly involved in the murder of two eunuchs in Munirka on Sunday.

Police recovered a UK-made pistol, three cartridges,Rs 3 lakh in cash and 350 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs 9 lakh from them.

The three Delhi residents — Laxman (36),Satish (37) and Paras (47) — worked at a ‘Dera’ in Majnu Ka Tila, police said. One of the eunuchs owned the ‘Dera’,while Laxman, who was the nephew of the ‘Dera’ owner, worked as a caretaker, police said.

“Satish is a driver, while Paras is the group’s drummer,” a police officer said.

The murders came to light when police were investigating the killing of a TSR driver whose body was found in a jungle in Mehrauli on June 11. Police suspected the involvement of eunuchs.

During investigation, police discovered that Gita, the head of a ‘Dera’ (community house) in Majnu Ka Tila, and her friend were missing for the past one month.

On Sunday, police received information about the presence of some ‘Dera’ members around 7 pm in Munirka. The accused had gone there to sell jewellery they had looted allegedly from the eunuchs.

Police said the three were arrested and the valuables confiscated.

The three men told police during questioning that they killed 50-year-old Gita to usurp her property. Other than property in Delhi, she had ‘Deras’ in Sri Ganganagar,Rajasthan, and Hoshiarpur in Punjab.

“In April,Gita went to Sri Ganganagar where she owned a ‘Dera’ to collect her share of earnings. She was accompanied by the three accused and some other members from the community. Fifteen days later, the accused strangulated Gita and burnt her body. They fled with the cash,” DCP (South) Chhaya Sharma said.

Police said the three men returned to the ‘Dera’ in Delhi and told people there that Gita has gone to Hissar to meet an old friend. Then they persuaded the other members of the ‘Dera’ to come with them to Hissar, police said.

“On the way, they told them that they were the new chiefs as Gita has been murdered. They fire in the air and threatened to kill anyone who tried to resist or inform the police. When Sharmila protested, they killed her, too. Her body was burnt in Muradnagar,Uttar Pradesh,” DCP Sharma said.

Laxman had been working for his aunt for the past 14 years, police said.

Police said Laxman plotted to kill Gita because of the tantrums she had throwing over the past few years. “He confided to Satish and Paras about his plan. He told them about Gita’s property and promised to share the loot after killing her,” a police officer said.
