SAJJAN KUMAR
(South Delhi)
Sajjan Kumar won the last Lok Sabha election from the erstwhile Outer Delhi constituency by defeating BJPs Sahib Singh Verma by over 2 lakh votes. He has been given ticket from the South Delhi constituency due to its sizeable Jat population. Sikh population in the South Delhi constituency is on a lower side 2% of the total voters. There are three cases registered against him for inciting mob during the 1984 riots; CBI has not yet filed a chargesheet. Interestingly, despite a small Sikh population in the area,Deoli MLA is a Sikh Arvinder Singh Lovely, son of Buta Singh.
South Delhi comprises Assembly constituencies of Bijwasan,Palam,Mehrauli,Chhatarpur,Deoli,Ambedkar Nagar,Sangam Vihar,Kalkaji,Tughlakabad and Badarpur.
JAGDISH TYTLER
(Northeast Delhi)
Interestingly,Jagdish Tytlers mother was a Sikh and his original name is Jagdish Kapoor. Tytler comes from his mentor James Doughlas Tytler,an educationist. In 2004,Tytler won from the Delhi Sadar constituency by defeating BJPs Vijay Goel by close to 16,000 votes. With his alleged involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots,it is not surprising that the constituency he has been fielded from has the least percentage of Sikhs (1.20%) among all Delhi constituencies.
