Polo After several rounds of cheers and hooting, the 61st Cavalry emerged as clear winners of the polo tournament.

As the tug of war between the onset of summers and the departure of winters continues in the Capital, it served as little deterrent to those who attended the H H Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia Gold Cup 2015 tournament on Sunday afternoon. After several rounds of cheers and hooting, the 61st Cavalry emerged as clear winners of the polo tournament, organised at the Jaipur Polo Ground, beating Sona Polo in the finals by 6 goals to 2. Ravi Rathore took home the title of the “Most Valuable Player”.

Played each year in aid of Rajmata Shrimant Vijaya Raje Scindia Centre for Development, the annual event on Delhi’s calendar witnessed a full turnout of royal figures, ambassadors and polo aficionados alongside members of the polo community. Spectators included British High Commissioner Sir James Bevan and Lady Janet Bevan, French Ambassador Francois Richier, Spanish Ambassador Gustavo De Aristegui, Chitrangada Raje with Mrighanka Singh, Devyani Raje, Ramneek and Rajat Pantal, and fashion designer Gauri Karan, among others.
