Flight operations at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh were severely affected due to dense fog on Friday, leading to the cancellation of several arrival and departure flights.
According to airport authorities, multiple incoming flights were cancelled, including IndiGo flights 6E242 from Pune (scheduled arrival 05:55), 6E2625 from Delhi (10:20), and 91831 from Hyderabad (23:40). An Air India flight arriving from Delhi was also impacted.
Departures were equally hit, with at least seven flights cancelled. These included IndiGo flight 6E5261 to Mumbai (05:20), 6E867 to Hyderabad (06:25), 6E146 to Lucknow (05:55), 6E627 to Kolkata (07:05), and 6E7721 to Dharamshala (14:50). An Air India flight A1853 to Hisar (10:40) and IndiGo flight 6E681 to Pune (21:10) were also cancelled.
Airport officials said, “Poor visibility due to dense fog early in the morning made safe take-off and landing operations impossible.”
Passengers were advised to check flight status with their respective airlines before heading to the airport, as foggy conditions may continue to affect schedules, they added.
