DID you know that out of 154 million film viewers in India,140 million watch movies on television? Well,the latest TAM Media Research data points that out,and keeping this in mind,Star is out with its new channel: Movies Ok. Starting today,the channel will air films all-week-long — blockbusters,modern classics or contemporary flicks. It promises an inaugural bonanza of seven movie premieres,one each on all days of the week. Recent films such as Kahaani,London Paris New York,Ek Deewana Tha,Jodi Breakers and Saat Khoon Maaf will be part of the inaugural showcase.

Cannes de Delhi

AS the Cannes film festival kicks off on May 16,Alliannce Francaise de Delhi has organised a film festival,spanning the entire month of May,to satiate the appetite of movie buffs in the Capital. The event is exclusively devoted to four masterpieces of international cinema,which have been awarded at Cannes. The festival ends on May 25. All films will be screened at 5:30pm and 7:30 pm at ML Bhartia Auditorium.

In a Lead Role

Ekta Kapoor will face the camera in an all new role. The Balaji baroness will promote ‘ICE’,her Institute of Creative Excellence,which is housed inside Balaji studios in Mumbai. On offer are courses on acting,cinematography,direction,editing,production,scriptwriting,sound,modelling and VFX. “I want to assist in grooming young aspirants from every part of the country and provide them with specialised technical expertise. Most of the newcomers have no idea about the craft and I wish to hone their talent,” said Kapoor.
