Amity School celebrates Annual Day
Amity International School,Saket,celebrated its Annual Day on April 10. School principal Dr Rekha Ranade welcomed the gathering. Dr Jayaprada,an eminent parliamentarian and a charismatic actress,graced the occasion as the chief guest. The cultural evening witnessed wonderful performances by the students that included Jazba-e-Hindustan,journey of India from its genesis,Aradhana, a synchronised medley of instruments and Parikrama,a programme showcasing dance forms of various states. The school also had an art exhibition showcasing the facets of the seven Union Territories of India. The students presented the schools annual report and the outstanding achievers in various categories were felicitated. Dr Amita Chauhan,Chairperson,Amity Group of Schools,in her motivational address lauded the efforts of all in the schools accomplishments. The occasion also marked the release of the school annual year book Amity Chronicle.
Self-defence camp at Red Roses Public School
In the wake of the rising crime against women,a 10-day self-defence camp was organised in Red Roses Public School,Saket,by Crime Against Women Cell of the Delhi Police,Nanakpura. Two women constables trained 40 girls from classes V to XI for an hour and a half daily and taught them the techniques to fight back unarmed using palm,fist,punches,fingertips,elbows and knees. This training physically and mentally prepared the girls to meet any situation,the officers said. It gave them the confidence to defend themselves in unsafe circumstances. The final presentation was attended by more than 30 parents.
World Health Day marked at GTB School
In the new academic session,Guru Tegh Bahadur 3rd Centenary Public School has taken up health and well-being as part of their value education programme. This will help to produce holistic individuals who have the strength to shun vices and embrace virtues. On World Health Day,several activities were organised in the school. Rotarian Dr Tajinder Singh,District Chairperson,Blood Donation Committee,delivered a talk on health and well-being. She referred to a book Tough Times Never Last but Tough People Do by Robert Schuller and the famous adage When the going gets tough the tough gets going. The word tough incorporates health and well-being and one can be tough by leading a healthy lifestyle which includes nutritious diet,food for thought mind and soul,exercise and meditation. She advised the children to minimise the use of cellphone,television and computers. A talk was organised in the morning assembly which was followed by a yoga session. The teachers demonstrated healthy recipes and spoke about the five basic elements needed by the body proteins,carbohydrates,minerals,fats and sugar. On the concluding day of the fortnightly value,a workshop on dental hygiene was organised.
Cultural exchange meet at BVB Mehta Vidyalaya
BVB Mehta Vidyalaya hosted an Indo-UK cultural exchange programme to create awareness among students about cultural traditions of the UK.
Elisa Kenton Howells,a teacher from St Ivo School,Cambridgeshire,along with her family visited the school for a day. The school organised a special assembly in which the sarva dharma prayer of the school was sung and a cultural programme was held in their honour. The students interacted with the family. The guests were taken for a school tour.
Principal Dr Anju Tandon and Vice-Principal Vibha Kohli presented the guests with bouquets,books,Bhavans newsletter and the school magazine.
Star gazing at Bal Bharati Public School
The astronomy club of Bal Bharati Public School,GRH Marg,held An Evening Session Lunar & Planetary Watch,an annual feature,under the aegis of SPACE (Science Popularization Association of Communicators and Educators) on March 22 on the school premises.
The programme was held in two sessions a one hour theory session followed by a practical session. Aanchal Tandon,Educator,SPACE,familiarised Module I members on using a Newtonian reflector telescopes its history,kinds,optical arrangement and pointing and focussing. Module II members were introduced to the digital single lens reflector (SLR) camera its working and uses by Sneh Kesari,Senior Educator,SPACE. He also explained the techniques of taking pictures of the night sky,stars,star trails and moon using SLR cameras along with telescopes.
In the Practical session that followed,Module I students gained hands-on experience in using the telescope to focus and view moon and other distant objects. Module II members clicked photographs of the moon. These would be provided to the members in a CD. It is hoped that a comparison of these images would prove to be a motivating as well as learning experience for them. The students of Module II were also awarded certificates for having successfully completed the intermediate module that qualified them as amateur astronomers.
Graduation ceremony at Hillwoods Academy
The kindergarten students entering Class I were brimming with enthusiasm during the graduation ceremony held for them on the school premises. The parents felt proud when their wards were made to wear graduation caps and gowns. Scrolls were handed over to Class I entrants by the head of the institution. Members of PTA Executive council presented gifts to all children. Speaking on the occasion,the principal blessed the little ones embarking on their journey to the primary section.The ceremony ended with the hope for a fruitful session.
Pre-primary branch of DPS shifted
The pre-primary wing of Delhi Public School,Mathura Road,is being shifted to Lodhi Road. It was opened on March 26. The programme was graced by dignitaries and eminent personalities from the fields of education and politics.
The principal welcomed the guests and expressed his gratitude to chief guest Neeraj Basoya,MLA,Tejinder Singh,MLA,Jungpura.
Basoya in his address promised to render full support to the school in providing quality education to children. Tejinder Singh was all praise for the schools under the DPS society and. He also promised full cooperation and support to DPS in all its initiatives.
