Bal Bharati Public School,GRH Marg,celebrated its Annual Day & Prize Distribution Function on 6th April 2013 at the school premises. The illustrious Narendra Kumar,Member Administration,National Highways Authority of India graced the occasion as the chief guest. Renowned Odissi exponent and choreographer,Padma Shri Madhavi Mudgal was the guest of honour.

In his address,the chief guest, Narendra Kumar lauded the school for its efforts in promoting co-curricular activities.

Principal,LV Sehgal in his address said that in the present context,“school and home,both,have the advantage of dealing with innocent,receptive and credulous young people… Values and attitudes that promote gender equality can be developed at early stages of life… In fact,school being a more systematized institution — can inculcate gender sensitivity in a more effective manner”.

The vote of thanks was delivered by J C Ajmani,IFS (Retd),Secretary (Manager) of the school. On the occasion the Principal,LV Sehgal was felicitated by the school’s Managing committee for his unparalleled achievement of being conferred the prestigious ‘National Award to Teachers 2012’ by the Hon’ble President of India on 5th September 2012. The members of PTA and Alumni Association too,honoured Sehgal for this illustrious recognition.

Gender equity seminar at DPS Mathura Road

Delhi Public School,Mathura Road,under the aegis of Delhi Public School Society hosted a National Seminar on ‘Contemporary Gender Issues in Education: From Human Rights to Gender Equity’.

Dr Syeda Hameed,Member Planning Commission,Government of India was the chief guest. The seminar commenced with an inaugural shlok followed by a choir performance — ‘Prayer for unity’. In his address M I Hussain,Principal,DPS,Mathura Road extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests.

Rear Admiral M M Chopra stated that women will not be treated as equals unless the present generation is enlightened.

The expert panelists for the post-lunch session were Professor J L Pandey,former project coordinator,NAEP and Head IIISS,NCERT Consultant UNFPA; Dr Mala Kapur Shankardass,Sociologist,Gerontologist Health & Development Social Scientist,Associate Professor,Maitreyi College; Professor Amarjit S Narang,Professor,School of Social Sciences (IGNOU),Dr. Waheeda Khan,Professor & Head,Department of Psychology,Jamia Millia; Professor Neerja Chadha,Professor,School of Continuing Education,IGNOU.

Vineet Joshi,Chairman,CBSE said this was an excellent platform to motivate the momentum to carry forward the movement of gender equity.

New session at Red Roses Public School

Red Roses Public School,Saket,began its new session by invoking the blessings of the Almighty with the chanting of Vedic mantras. Attended by the trustees,management,staff,students,PTA members and Class IV employees,the holy fire of ‘havan’ with ‘ahuti’ of ghee,samagri and samidha sanctified the atmosphere.

Acharyaji said that the beginning of the new academic session coincides with Nature blossoming with new life and fresh blood in human body to gear up for newer challenges. He said knowledge and power must be used for constructively. He also stressed the importance of being physically,mentally and socially fit. Elaborating on the supremacy of the ‘Gayatri mantra’,Acharyaji exhorted students to pray to be bestowed with intellect that takes them on the right path. Homage was paid to the founders R R Mehta and Ram Piyari at the end of the ceremony.

Adventure camp held at ASN Sr Sec School

To bring the academic session to an end,ASN Sr Sec School,Mayur Vihar,organized an adventure camp at Tickling Village. It was organized to ease the students off the examination stress and fill them with zeal and enthusiasm.

The children experienced and enjoyed the serenity amidst the lush greenery filled with melodious notes of singing birds including that of peacocks.

The adventure camp included activities like river rafting,rappelling,trekking and tug of war. The students also had hands-on pottery making and also enjoyed activities like camel ride and tractor ride.

After all the activities the students joined on the dance floor and danced on the foot tapping numbers of DJ. They were served the traditional food which was relished by one and all.

It was a memorable day for both teachers and students.

Abhinav Public School,hosts dance show

Abhinav Public School,CU-Block,Pitampura,organized a dance show in the school premises on 24th March 2013 (Sunday). Parents along with their children participated with great zeal displaying their talents in various forms of dance like Kathak,western and classical. It was a mind blowing to see the participation,specially the parents’ performance. The coordination of delicate tiny steps with rhythms of melody really spellbound everyone present in the premises. A panel of judges judged the participants.

Orientation programme at Hillwood’s School

Benjamin Disraeli aptly remarked,“Change is inevitable. Change is constant.” Entering a school is a very significant transition and a turning point in a student’s life. For new members of Hillwoods family,Orientation programme was held in the school premises for the parents to apprise them of the school’s educational system,rules and regulations and to foster cooperation between parents and teachers for holistic development of young learners.

Eminent guest speakers informed the parents about scholastic and co-scholastic areas. Madhu Sharma,internationally trained psychometrician,emphasised on value based education and urged parents to support the intellectual curiosity of their wards and be available to them for support and care. An excellent learning experience was provided by Resource person from Oxford,Monica Sharma,who gave valuable suggestions on how to improve communication skills and enhance vocabulary enrichment. Through various activities,involving parents and students,Resource person Vivek Kumar Jaiswal,made parents realise the importance of motivating the young learners to perform well and excel in whatever they do.
