Blessing ceremony of Class XII students at Abhinav Public School
The blessing ceremony for Class XII students was held on February 23 at Abhinav Public School,Pitampura. The ceremony began with readings from the Holy Scriptures and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp of knowledge by chairman Dr K K Bansal. Wishing the students the very best for their upcoming board exams and a bright and secure future,school head S K Jha asked the student to follow the motto of the school in everything they do. He also shared valuable advice and encouraged the students to do well in future. The students made use f the opportunity to thank their teachers for their dedication and encouragement.
Globe In The Class series at Birla Vidya Niketan
In an endeavour to take education beyond textbooks,Birla Vidya Niketan,Junior School,presented the Globe In The Class series,where a confluence of two great civilizations India and Greece was celebrated on March 1. The other seven countries in the series were Japan,Egypt,China,Mexico,Germany,Spain and Poland. The Greek Ambassador Loannis Raptakis,who was the chief guest on the occasion,felt nostalgic and a sense of déjà vu during the aptly titled visual treat,The Indo-Grecian Urn. The guests were welcomed by principal Minakshi Kushwaha. The school report for the year 2012-13 was read out by the Junior School vice-principal Ranjana Joshi. The chief guest appreciated the efforts of the dance,music and the art department of the school.
St Marks School,Meera Bagh,wins awards
It was a double bonanza for St Marks Sr Sec Public School,Meera Bagh. Both the school and its principal Anjali Aggarwal received the Quality Initiative Mission Awards 2013.The school was awarded for Teaching Learning Methodology in Schools while Aggarwal was awarded for Innovation and Excellence in School Education.
The glittering award ceremony was held on March 4 at Alliance Francoise,Lodhi Estate.The award was presented to the school and Aggarwal by noted educationist Professor B P Khandelwal. Khandelwal was the former Chairman of CBSE and former Director of National University of Educational Planning and Administration. He is currently the consultant of Council of Boards of School Education,CBSE.
Performing arts festival held at Tagore International School
SANCHAYAN 2012- The Performing Art Festival of Tagore International School,Vasant Vihar,saw students of Classes I to V paying tribute to legendary personalities from different fields the shooting star Colonel RVS Rathore, bravehearts of 1857 such as Rani Lakshmi Bai and Mangal Pandey, statesman Chanakya and authors such as J K Rowling and R K Narayan.
The performance concluded with the principals speech in which the efforts of all participants and teachers were commended. The festival did leave a lasting impression on parents who were all too happy that the school left no stone unturned in bringing forth the talent in each child.
Workshop on gender issues in education at The Indian School
On February 19,The Indian School,Josip Broz Tito Marg,New Delhi,hosted the convocation ceremony and final workshop of the Adolescent Peer Educators Life Skills Course 2012-13 by Expressions India. Thirty-eight schools from the Delhi/NCR participated in workshop,directed by Dr Jitendra Nagpal.
The topic of discussion of this years life skills course was Contemporary Gender Issues in Education.The workshop was initiated with an informal address by the students of Delhi Public School,Mathura Road.
This was followed by a note of appreciation by the guest of honor Sandeep Sethi,education officer,CBSE. Following this,there was a brief but enlightening talk by Rashi Narula,principal of The Indian School and Dr Nayana Goradia,deputy chairperson of The Indian School. Geetanjali Kumar,counsellor,Hansraj Model School,through her presentation made those gathered aware that girls are not the only vulnerable section in society. In fact,both genders were vulnerable and had to be assured safety.
An interesting part of the workshop was the talk given by Sangeeta Aswani,the PTA representative,who narrated the experiences of the peer educator’s course through the parents’ point of view.
GD Salwanians bring laurels to the school
Students of G D Salwan Public School,Rajinder Nagar,won the overall championship in athletics at the Primary level in the zonal competitions for Zone 28.
The other trophies bagged by the students were: First in Sub Junior Boys,Volleyball; Second Prize in Junior Boys,Volleyball; Second Prize in Junior Girls,and Second Prize in the Juniors Category in athletics.
The school principal Vijay Laxmi Singh congratulated the budding sports stars and said games and sports keep one physically and mentally fit. They keep one away from diseases relating to heart,obesity,mental stress and sleeplessness and instill in the player a spirit of self-confidence,self-reliance,discipline,justice,fair play and patriotism,she told students.
