Rain during Games?

The rain is likely to start putting a dampener on the Games preparations yet again.

The rain is likely to start putting a dampener on the Games preparations yet again. The IMD has predicted that it will pour in the city from Sunday to Tuesday.

By September-end,the south-west monsoon is expected to withdraw from the whole of north-west India. However, officials are concerned that if the monsoon does not retreat on time, the opening day of the Games — October 3 — could witness rain.

“Monsoon usually withdraws by the end of September but,in 2007,it stretched up to October 3,” said a Met official.

It is too early to predict when the monsoon will retreat,he said, adding that they will get a clearer picture by September 25.
