Noida Authority seeks report on waterlogging, reviews infrastructure projects
The Noida Authority proposed to complete electrical work on the foot overbridge between Sector 51 and Sector 52 Metro stations by September.

The Noida Authority held a review meeting Friday to assess ongoing and upcoming infrastructure and development projects. During the meeting, the Authority approved a proposal for the allotment of kiosks in the special vending and food zones being developed near GIP Mall in Sector 18, and near Skymark in Sector 98. The proposal will now move to the tendering stage.
In light of the heavy rain, the CEO sought a detailed action-taken report on waterlogging incidents and instructed the departments to engage a technical institute, such as IIT, to survey and improve Noida’s drainage system, particularly its bottleneck zones.
The Authority also reviewed progress on the proposed coffee house at Noida Stadium in Sector 21, calling for expedited action on the proposed sports complex in Sector 123. Another key directive was to complete pending electrical work on the foot overbridge between Sector 51 and Sector 52 Metro stations by September.
The meeting also included discussions on several environmental and recreational projects. During the review of lake and pond development across Noida, the CEO directed officials to ensure a water body is constructed at the centre of the upcoming lake park in Sector 167, with large-scale green landscaping, a children’s play area, and dedicated sports zones. Officials were also told to expedite work on the Pushkarni pond in Sorkha village, which is planned to be the centre of Diwali festivities.
The Authority flagged delays in the golf course project in Sector 151A and instructed that tenders for the remaining work under the original contract be floated urgently.
Concerns were raised over the Chilla Elevated Road project, where the implementing agency, the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation, has been found to have used substandard steel during piling. The CEO directed immediate use of approved materials and ordered that a formal notice be issued to the agency.
In the case of the Bhangel elevated road, the Authority noted that while the project is nearing completion, work beneath the elevated structure remains pending. The Bridge Corporation has requested an extension.
The CEO asked that the delay be assessed, a penalty imposed as per rules, and then a time extension can be considered, the Authority said. The review also included the incomplete bridge near Sector 146 and 147 on the Hindon river.
After the meeting, the CEO and senior officials visited several project sites, including the clock towers under construction near GIP and in Sector 128. Instructions were issued to complete these by August 15.
