With temperatures soaring,Thursday too proved unlucky for Kuldeep Sharma,an auto rickshaw driver. He had been out since morning and 13 hours into the day,he had not crossed the Rs 400 mark. Its the heat. Nobody wants to go out to the markets, he said. While the weather officials predicted some respite on Thursday, rains did not hit the city. Sharma narrowly avoided accidents twice in the last five days when he felt dizzy while driving,he said.
My eyes were almost shutting and my head swirled, he said. It was in the afternoon when the heat is bad.
On Thursday, the maximum temperature touched 41.8 degrees, while the minimum was about 28.6 degrees. Forty one degrees is normal for the city at this time of the year, S C Bhan, director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). But on Saturday or Sunday we may get rain. According to weather officials,Saturday might see some rain or thunderstorm or even a hailstorm. But a sudden shower cant still be ruled out on Friday. We still think some rains might hit the city but we also are not so accurate. Science hasnt made that much progress, a weather department official said.
