A huge image of a DJ in a trance like state while spinning music stands out as you approach the entrance of Reverb, the 4,100 sq ft club-lounge at The Great India Place Mall. The night club situated on the third floor of the mall, done up in dramatic grey and black graffiti tries its best to put you in a party mood, despite the dampener of having a greasy Mughlai diner on one side, and a health food outlet on the other. It certainly stands out from the neighbours, agrees Ankit Das,proprietor, who hosted a launch party last week. As you enter the club,a narrow passageway screened off by glass doors, opens up to a spacious wooden dance floor. Imported disco lights bounce off the floor adding to the mood.
A spiral staircase leads up to the second level, the exclusive seating area which offers VIP and premium seating options. The red, heart shaped couches overlooking the dance floor might be a little tacky, but help to create an easy, lurid atmosphere, hardly a negative for a nightclub. A butler service is thrown in to pamper the high spenders. Since the club does not yet operate on a regular liquor license (it gets daily licenses only) the usual cover charges do not apply. So you only pay for what you eat and drink.
But with a menu that serves Italian,Indian and Continental cuisine,Reverb tries hard to please everyone, foodies and revellers alike. The food was not exceptional, but the resident DJ Dikshant, spun some pretty good house tracks for us. Our focus is on the ambience and music. We will refrain from commercial tracks and specifically have house and techno music, adds Das. While the liquor license takes another 20 days to obtain,drop-in and see for yourself.
