Metro trains have been the preferred mode of transport for the spectators of the Commonwealth Games events and now the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is gearing up to meet the passenger rush on October 14,the closing ceremony.
According to Metro officials,additional signage will be put up at both Jangpura and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro stations. These will contain details about the nearest gates of the stadium. While the Jangpura station is close to gate numbers 6,9,10,11 and 12 of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium,gate numbers 13,14 and 15 are closer to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro station.
The frequency of trains will be 2 minutes and 40 seconds,as during the opening ceremony. If needed,additional trains will also be run after the stipulated revenue hours to manage the crowd, said a DMRC spokesperson. Repeated announcements will be made at the stations. More than 150 additional personnel comprising Customer Facilitation Agents (CFAs),guards and volunteers will be deployed at the Central Secretariat,Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Jangpura Metro stations to guide the commuters.
The Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat Metro stations will remain closed between 5 am and 11 am on October 14 as advised by the Delhi Police. At the Rajiv Chowk Metro station,only A and B Block entry/exit gates Gate no. 1,2,7 and 8 will be open for the public. Commuters planning to use the Central Secretariat and Patel Chowk stations can use the Udyog Bhawan station on the HUDA City Centre-Jahangirpuri corridor.
