The state government has made it clear that it does not approve of equal sharing of operational losses as well as the clause that puts the burden of repaying JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) loan on it in case the DMRC defaults.
The new revision will come into effect from October 1 but the increased fares will only be levied from Oct 3 as Oct 1 and 2 fall on a Sunday and a national holiday, respectively. The fares will be, as a result, discounted on both the days.
The order came after the court noted the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's submissions on affidavit that there were 128 water dispensing kiosks and over 200 shops in the stations where water was available, but at a price.
The Union Cabinet approved the new Metro Rail Policy on Wednesday that focused on giving clarity on development of projects, collaborations, participation, standardising norms, financing and creating a procurement mechanism so that the projects can be implemented effectively.
From April, when a commuter returns his or her Metro smart card to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the unused balance in the card will not be refunded, the Corporation said Tuesday, citing Reserve Bank of India guidelines. A DMRC spokesperson said, “All smart cards sold on April 1 or after shall be non-refundable. […]
