Man arrested for kidnap,extortion

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Saturday arrested one person wanted in a case of abduction and extortion of Rs 20 crore in Haryana.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Saturday arrested one person wanted in a case of abduction and extortion of Rs 20 crore in Haryana.

Rajesh alias Pinchu was arrested from Southeast Delhi’s Greater Kailash area,while he was doing a recce for his plan to abduct a builder in GK-1,police said.

The Haryana Police had announced Rs 1 lakh as reward for turning in Rajesh. Additional Commissioner of Police,Ravindra Yadav said,“The anti robbery cell of the Crime Branch had received a tip off about Rajesh and his associate Om Prakash,based on which our team laid a trap and Rajesh was arrested.”

Rajesh,an MBA student from Jhajjar,is a member of Sandeep Chitania’s gang,which carries out abductions extort money. Rajesh told police that he had opened a training institute called Megamind Institute Financial Market Private Limited in Sector-14,Gurgaon for corporates.

During questioning,police found that on March 3,Sandeep Chitania had hatched a conspiracy to extort huge amount of money from a big builder and Rajesh was part of the plan.

Chitania called the builder and his son to Rajesh’s institute office on the pretext of discussing property deals. Sandeep then demanded Rs 20 crore from the builder. To secure the amount Chitania and his associates abducted the builder’s son and took him to Haryana.

“When Rajesh and Pradeep,a sharp shooter from the gang,went to the builder’s GK-I residence to receive the ransom amount,they were intercepted by Haryana Police. While one of the gang members was arrested,Rajesh managed to escape. After that,he was arrested today,” police said.
