Kiran Bedi’s induction has BJP leaders fretting, fuming

Many are sour that the central leadership has overlooked them while taking such a decision.

Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi’s induction into the BJP has upset a section of the Delhi party leadership. Sources said some senior leaders were fretting over the central leadership’s decision to paradrop Bedi and project her as the probable CM candidate in the capital.

It is learnt that several senior leaders have expressed their displeasure at the induction of Bedi, claiming that she does not have adequate political experience. Many are also sour that the central leadership has overlooked them while taking such a decision.

The decision to position Bedi against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is likely to affect the prospects of several leaders, including Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, MP Vijay Goel and Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay in Delhi’s scheme of things.

Sources said a section of the party leadership, which resents the Bedi’s induction, may also create an embarrassing situation for her as she is expected to campaign in the whole of Delhi and would not be able to focus on her own constituency.

However, it is understood that Shah has made it clear that anyone who works against the party’s decision and indulges in anti-party activities would face disciplinary action. The message sent across to the resenting leaders was loud and clear — abide by the decision taken by the top leaders or face consequences which could even be expulsion from party.
