Amid reports that airport coming up at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh may miss its April deadline because work is still incomplete, the NIA said, “We are in discussion with the state government for the inauguration of the airport.”

“Noida International Airport is advancing steadily toward operational readiness. The Airports Authority of India is making progress with its work in the air traffic control tower, and construction of the passenger terminal and associated infrastructure is progressing well,” it added.

Earlier, in an interview with The Indian Express, Chief Executive Officer of the airport, Christoph Schnellmann, had said that construction work at the passenger terminal and Air Traffic Control is in final stages.

The Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG that is developing the airport, said a crucial meeting to discuss the operational timeline will be conducted on March 10 in Lucknow. The meeting will be attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“This meeting will give a more clear picture on the operations,” said an official with YIAPL.

The foundation stone for the project was laid in November 2021 and validation flight was successfully completed in December 2024. In the first phase, the airport will have a capacity to handle 12 million passengers.
