The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has introduced the Self Certification System (SCS) for simplifying the process of obtaining approvals for building plans.
The DTCP had decided to amend the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Development Rules,1965,through a notification dated March 16,2010,so the procedure of approval of plans in licensed plotted residential and industrial colonies would get streamlined.
Stating this here on Saturday,Senior Town Planner R K Singh said SCS is applicable to individual plots. In accordance with the new system, building plans of the plots in all the licensed colonies will be approved by qualified architects as per amended rules, following the procedure outlined in the guidelines.
Before approving the building plans, the architect will submit an application to the office of the District Town Planner (DTP) concerned, along with required documents. The DTP will give the confirmation after checking the building plans and other documents,or mention deficiencies,if any, within a period of five days.
If they fail to do so,the architects will give permission to the owner, officials added.
A meeting will also be held in Gurgaon on December 20 to create awareness among local architects,RWAs and the general public regarding SCS.
