“Although a foot overbridge has been planned to connect Sector 51 (Aqua Line) and Sector 52 (Blue Line) stations, it is not going to resolve commuters’ problem permanently owing to a 430-metre distance between the two stations,” said Lokesh M, NMRC managing director. (Express File Photo)To ensure seamless connectivity with Delhi Metro’s Blue Line, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has decided to tweak the alignment of the proposed Aqua Line extension between Noida and Greater Noida West (Sector 51 to Knowledge Park V).
He said a permanent solution has now been worked out by slightly changing the alignment of the extension of Aqua Line going up to Knowledge Park V: “Action has already been initiated to carry out these changes in the DPR.”
He further said that a similar problem had been encountered while connecting the Dhaula Kuan station of Airport Express Line and Durga Bai Deshmukh station of DMRC’s Pink Line. While an FoB with a travellator was built, it could solve the problem only to a certain extent, he said.
“A solution has to be found at this stage. If the extension is pursued as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the seamless connectivity issue will remain unresolved forever with no scope for further correction,” he said.
Residents of Greater Noida West, also known as Noida Extension, have been demanding Metro service in the area and seamless connectivity with the DMRC’s Blue Line.
