Elections will be held on September 9

Election season has come with its usual share of controversies this year too.

Election season has come with its usual share of controversies this year too. On Wednesday a nominee approached the Maurice Nagar thana with the complaint that some members of the NSUI had demanded money from her in exchange for giving her the candidature. But by Thursday the issue seemed to have been resolved, with the candidate withdrawing her nomination and back tracking on the allegation made. “There was no such complaint raised to us,and the candidature was withdrawn amicably,” said Amrita Dhawan, general secretary of NSUI.

Youth for Democracy,a group that has fielded candidates to DUSU for the first time, protested outside the University Vice-Chancellor’s office claiming that its presidential candidate’s nomination had been rejected on ‘flimsy’ grounds after the candidature was rejected by the Elections office citing lack of a valid ID card. The candidate,a first-year student from Shraddhanand College, had filed her nominations using a temporary ID card from her college, which was found invalid during the final scrutiny. “We will take the matter to Delhi High Court,” said Sudesh Verma, president of the organisation.
