One of the few designers in the country to exclusively work in the menswear segment,sisters Barkha and Sonzal have made a mark for themselves. Their label offers both prêt and couture collections but it’s their latest line that arouses interest. Called the Yogi,the collection was recently unveiled by actor Anil Kapoor,and the designers admit the inspiration was Lord Shiva,“the greatest yogi in the world”. Drawing from various facets of Shiva — his treks to Amarnath,meditation on the banks of Ganga in Kashi and his dance mudras — the collection aims to strike a harmonious balance between form,function and style. It’s an interesting mix of silhouettes with comfort being a key factor and includes kurtis (yes,for men),long kurtas,easy-fit pants and shirts. Given the theme,handloom weaves and textures have been used extensively. The duo has aptly chosen celebrity trainer Deepesh Bhatt to model the collection.
