A 48-Year-Old Police head constable,posted at the summons cell in Delhi,was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel in Bareilly,UP on Wednesday afternoon.
The post mortem report states that the cause of death could not be ascertained,police sources said. However,they did not rule out the possibility of a suicide or even murder.
With the help of the ID card recovered from his purse,police identified the deceased as Joginder Singh,who was posted with the summons cell in Southeast Delhi. Prima facie,police said,Singh died a natural death,since there are no external injury on his body,nor are there any signs of struggle.
DIG Bareilly Prakash said,The post mortem was done at the district hospital in Bareilly. The report states that the cause of death could not be ascertained. The viscera has been preserved for a forensic examination.
According to police,Singh,who resides with his family in the staff quarters in Northwest Delhis Pitampura area,boarded the Inter-City train to Bareilly on August 30. There,he checked into the Asha Kiran hotel on Station Road at 11.05 pm, said a senior police officer investigating the case.
Reportedly,Singh at the time of checking into the hotel had entered the purpose of visit to the city as for court work in the hotel registry.
Since Singh was to spend only a night in the hotel,around 12 pm on Wednesday,a hotel staffer came knocking at his door. When there was no response,the staffer tried peeping through the hole in the cooler,installed at the window. It was then that he saw Singh lying under the bed.
The staffer panicked and alerted the hotel manager who informed the police. A team of officers rushed to the spot,broke open the window,since the door was locked from the inside and found Singh lying unconscious under the bed.
Sources said a bottle of liquor by the bed side and food were found. Medicines were also recovered from Singhs bag,which police sources said the deceased used as medication for an illness.
Two tickets were also recovered from the deceaseds possession; a return ticket from Bareilly – Delhi and the other for Delhi – Shahjahanpur.
